Pension Perspectives:Q2 2012 US reduces pension funding pressure

Regulatory relief - Corporate pension funding has recently come under pressure from low interest rates. Regulators are beginning to take action to relieve pension funding stress. The US has taken the most significant action to date, putting a temporary floor on the discount rate, which is likely to reduce required pension contributions in the near term. Regulators in Denmark and Sweden have also adjusted discount rates, but the UK regulator appears unwilling to follow suit
