WhiteWave: EU Conditional Approval

    The European Union approved Danone’s acquisition of WhiteWave on thecondition that Danone divest its growing-up milk business in Belgium.However, the U.S. Department of Justice is still looking into the deal. As wehave noted earlier, there could be concerns around Danone’s control aroundthe organic dairy market. According to Nielsen, Whitewave is the brandedleader with around 37% share while Danone is #3with 5%. The #2player(Organic Valley) has around 10% share.
