Non-Ferrous: Copper foil supply shortage to persist

    The price of copper foil has risen 80% since July 2016. Global copper foil demand and supply are expected to amount to 536,400 tonnes and 521,400 tonnes respectively in 2017, implying that a supply shortage will continue. Demand will be driven by NEV sales. The short-term supply of the new material is weak due to a lack of cathode roll production equipment, the difficulty for copper foil to be stored for a long period of time, and the high capital and technological barriers for entering the copper foil industry.
